Deep Space Nine was the third live action Star Trek television series and it took a lot of risks. It was the first and only Star Trek series not set on a starship and it also featured the first black captain. The show was a success but not quite the smash that was Next Generation.

Deep Space Nine has endured however. The Deep Space Nine DVD has become a bestseller on Amazon and many Trek fans appreciates the shows darker edge and stunning special effects. The Deep Space Nine DVD also looks fantastic, as it was the first Trek series to really have a big time budget for its entire television run.
