Star Trek Enterprise takes a fascinating look at the origins of the Star Trek universe. The show takes place in the middle of the twenty second century, nearly one years before Captain Kirk captained a similiarly named famous starship. Enterprise is about beginnings.

The era in which it takes place, forces certain technological limitations upon the crew. Warp speed has only been around for ninety odd years so some of the advanced technologies of other Trek shows are not present here. This lends a certain authenticity to the show as the characters can not fall back on technology to save them.

This version of the Enterprise is helmed by Jonathan Archer (played by sci-fi veteran Scott Bakula) who leads his crew on humanity’s first in-depth voyages into outer space.
